In early 2016 Brewgooder set out on a simple mission - to provide clean water to 1,000,000 people through the power of craft beer by donating 100% of their profits to clean water charities.
They work to bring clean water to communities not just to help with the bare essentials of existence but to empower communities to make radical, transformative steps themselves and lift themselves out of poverty and into a better life.
Here are some examples of what they're proud to have achieved in the past two years...
Brewgooder's first ever funded project was back in May 2017 at Nora Docherty Foundation in Chiluzi village, Malawi, which impacted a school community of 1600 and wider community of 3000.
They installed a 5000L solar-powered tank with three taps that allowed for easy access water for "Mama Nora`s" nursery school feeding programme and wider community access. A year later they installed a second 3000L tank bringing dedicated piped water to a mother and baby clinic on the grounds of the Nora Docherty School. The larger 5000L tank is now also being used for a vegetable garden that supports a feeding programme for a second school.
Back in 2001, a borehole was installed at Pindani village, Malawi. However it was vandalized 5 years later by thieves, making it impossible for the villagers to repair. The 332 members of the Pindani community were left with no source of safe water, so they resorted to drawing water from unprotected shallow wells nearby that were dirty and used by animals. In 2018, alongside The One Foundation and with the support of their drinkers, Brewgooder were able to install two brand new boreholes in Pindani Village, and provide training to the community on upkeep, maintenance and repair of the water sources to ensure they remain functional, impacting 332 community members.
A Certified B-Corp!
Brewgooder are also BCorp Certified. Having striven to start and grow a business that delivers as much clean water impact as possible, with all hands on deck to ensure their outcome was exceptional, they wanted the culture to be up to the same high standards. To be the best company they could be; not just through profits, but also how they work with their team, suppliers and customers.
Brewgooder like to think that they are doing something very different from normal, everyday businesses by putting purpose first, but within the day to day of running of the company they think there is massive room to do things differently, positively and sustainably. They are striving to improve and to become more transparent, open and accountable and wanted to be held to this and join in with other businesses doing the same.
