In developing countries, there are high levels of unintentional wastage often due to poor equipment, transportation, and infrastructure. If food waste were a country it would be the 3rd biggest carbon emitter after USA & China. 7.2 MILLION tons of food and drink are thrown away each year. £1.2BILLION If all wasted and surplus food in the UK was sold at market values it would have a value of £1.2 billion. 4X The amount of food wasted is four times more than the quantity needed to feed all of the people around the world who are malnourished.
